Day 8

Forgot to continue the challenge, ah sorry for my bad :'''

So, for Day 8, two months ago; where were you/what are you doing.

I was in Balikpapan, uhm I am, until now, at the office exactly. I went for internship in national oil and gas company. Internship is one of the best moments of my life :) finally I know how the world after college looks like. People are so much kind there, I'm really thankful for being there.

2 months ago, it means 8th of June, I was on my field orientation at control room (RPPK or Ruang Pusat Pengendali Kilang). I think I'm too much but that is the coolest room I've ever see! Hahaha, felt like playing on NASA movie :)) I learned a lot of things I can't get from academic lecture. For umpteenth time, I'm really thankful. Thank you for HSC and HCC people for being very nice, funny, and friendly. I had fun at RPPK, wanna go there again and again.

I learned so much especially about CDU or Crude Distillation Unit. It is a primary process of oil refining, maybe it looks simple but it's not as easy as you think. Very good basics and concepts are needed. Crude distillation might just process of oil fractionation but if you're a deep learner, you'll find that many variables could be optimize for better. My assignment is about CIT or Crude Inlet Temperature. CIT is inlet temperature of crude oil to furnace in preheating section before crude oil enters the distillation column. The higher CIT means the lower duty of furnace so that more fuels can be saved.

CIT now isn't as high as the design value because preheater performance decreases every time. Beside that, there are unused heat exchangers in different unit that may be used to increase CIT. I simulated that idea with HYSYS to find how's CIT enhancement if the heat exchangers are used.

Interesting? Yeah, soooo much! I even calculated the cost fuel saving :) unforgettable assignment and memories~ I wish I'll get job that fits me and my passion. Challenging job that skills me up, wish me good luck, aamiin :)
